Snap Inventory helps you photograph and catalog your belongings so you have a record before you need one.
The short version: your inventory stays on your device. We do not run a server, and we do not have a copy of your data. The only time your information leaves your phone is when you choose to back it up to your own Google Drive, or when you use the AI room scanning feature, which sends a photo to Google for analysis. Both are described below.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party tracking of any kind in this app. We have no way to see your inventory.
Photos. Pictures you take or import are stored on your device, in the app's own storage area. They are not uploaded anywhere except where you explicitly choose to back them up.
Inventory data. Item names, descriptions, values, quantities, dates, notes, and categories are stored in a database on your device.
Settings and app state, including whether you have an active subscription.
None of this is transmitted to us, because there is no "us" to transmit it to – the app has no backend server of its own.
On Android, automatic system backup is disabled, so the operating system does not copy your inventory to your Google account on its own. Backing up is something you choose to do.
When you tap Backup, the app creates an archive of your inventory and uploads it to your own Google Drive.
This goes to your Drive account, not to us. We never receive a copy and cannot access it.
The app requests only the ability to see and manage files it created itself. It cannot see the rest of your Drive – not your documents, not your photos, nothing it did not put there.
Google Sign-In is used solely to authorize this. As part of signing in, the app receives your Google account's email address so it can show you which account backups are going to. That address stays on your device. We do not send it anywhere, store it on any server, or use it for any other purpose.
You can delete backup files at any time from your Google Drive, and revoke the app's access from your Google account settings.
This is the one place where your images are sent to a third party, so it is worth stating plainly.
When you use AI room scanning, the photo of the room is sent to Google's Firebase AI service, which runs on Google Cloud's Vertex AI. It analyzes the photo to identify items, and the results come back to your device to create inventory entries.
Under Google Cloud's terms for paid services, Google does not use the images you send to train or improve their models. Google retains this content briefly for abuse monitoring and short-lived caching, and then discards it. Google's terms govern that handling, not ours.
If you do not use room scanning, no photo is ever sent for analysis. The app is fully usable without it – you can add and manage items by hand.
Subscriptions are handled by the App Store or Google Play, depending on where you installed the app.
We never see your payment details. The stores handle payment entirely, and the app only learns whether you have an active subscription.
Subscriptions are per store. A subscription purchased on Android does not carry over to iOS, or the reverse, because each store manages its own purchases and there is no account system linking them.
There is no analytics package in this app. No crash reporting. No advertising SDK. No third-party trackers of any kind. Nothing in the app profiles you, builds an audience segment, or shares data with a data broker.
The app does use Firebase to reach the AI scanning service. Starting Firebase registers this installation with Google and receives a per-install identifier, which happens when the app launches. That identifier exists so Google's service infrastructure can recognize the app installation. It is not an advertising identifier, it is not linked to your identity, it is not used to track you, and it is not combined with any other data.
Firebase App Check and Firebase Auth are present in the app only as dependencies of the AI service library. Neither is initialized and neither is used.
Snap Inventory is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Because your inventory lives on your device:
There is no account to close and no data of yours held on our servers to request or erase.
